Conor McGregor will meet Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match on August 26 in Las Vegas and now full details about the super fight have been unveiled.
UFC president Dana White told TMZ.com on Wednesday all the particulars surrounding the highly anticipated fight between the current UFC lightweight champion and arguably one of the greatest boxers of all time.
White says that negotiations when much smoother than anything he could have anticipated with McGregor and Mayweather both agreeing to the fight this week.
Here are all the details White released about the upcoming fight.
T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
The fight will take place on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Currently, the T-Mobile Arena has the BIG3 Championships scheduled for that date, but it’s tough to imagine considerations wouldn’t be made for McGregor vs. Mayweather instead.
That’s the weight where McGregor and Mayweather will meet. It’s definitely an advantage for McGregor, who most recently competed at 155 pounds when he defeated Eddie Alvarez to become the UFC lightweight champion this past November. Mayweather has competed at several different weight divisions throughout his career but did fight numerous times at light middleweight, which allows fighters to weigh up to 154 pounds.
McGregor and Mayweather will wear 10-ounce gloves for their fight on Aug. 26.
The fight will go for 12 rounds at three minutes each competed under traditional boxing rules.
Both fighters will be tested by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency), who currently handle the UFC’s anti-doping policy.
No date has been announced for ticket sale nor how much tickets will cost but this will undoubtedly be one of the biggest fights of all time so it will definitely be a huge event.
